Today

Today there are still a lot of problems in Guatemala. Although there are no longer soldiers in the mountains, there is a lot of poverty, discrimination and vandalism. I am living in Guatemala now because it is important to work for social justice that most need to change. There are many people here in Guatemala fighting for the rights of the poor, joining many more in countries across the globe fighting for social justice. These people give me hope that some day the world will be a good place for all of us who live here: men, women, animals, plants and even the minerals and water.

Changing the conditions in the world is work for a lot of people. So, if you'd like the future to look between than the past for people around the world, think about what you can do to participate in making this change a reality. Doing even just a few good things in the struggle for social justice is a whole lot better than sitting back and letting others do things that destroy our plente and the people here without protesting.

For the moment, I hope that if someday you are to visit Guatemala, you will find a peaceful, beautiful country. Sending you my best from Guatemala ~ Rogelia.
