Youth Age 13

My name is Brenda. I'm 13 years old. I am really happy right now because I ended the school year with good grades in all my clases at the end of my very first year in high school. That means that next year I'll move on to the second year of high school (8 th grade). My favorite class is Math. When I don't understand something in class I always look for someone who can help me. Sometiemes I go to the library and ask Irma to help me. Irma is one of the librarians at the library and the leader of our youth group. There are a lot of us in the youth group. We meet once a week at night in the library. I have lots of fun in our meetins and I really like the way Irma leads the group in the activities that we do together. In the library right now I'm reading the book Tom Sawyer. The book has 25 chapters! I'm only at chapter 8, but I'm really enjoying it.

My name is Emanuel. I'm 13 years old. At the moment we are on vacation from school. I've just finished 8 th grade. I love playing soccer. I just recently joined a team. I also like learning to use computers and nativigating the internet. I really like animals. I have a bog named Pantera. We gave her this name because she is all black and kind of big. I like playing with my friends and family. Right now we have a lot of my uncles, aunts and cousins visiting us and we always have a lof of fun together! Sometimes I help my dad en his bicycle workshop, but I don't like that work too much. There is a river close to my house. It's not very big, but in winter, when it rains a lot, it fills up and looks beautiful. Sometimes I go to the river to have fun with my friends in the water. One day a whole group of bees chased us and to avoid getting stung we had to jump into the river! The things I don't like so much are writing and doing my homework. `
Hi! My name is Katherin. I'm 13 years old and in the 3 rd year of high school (9 th grade). I tend to be a little quiet around people that I don't know well, but am lots of fun with my friends that I know well. I really like high school and sometimes I feel sad that one day I'll graduate and know that I might not see all my friends again. I'll tell you a little about my family. My mother's name is Nolvia. She is very understanding and works as one of the librarians in the library. My father's name is Nicolas, but he doesn't live with us. He is always telling me that I need to study hard to be a good student. I have two brothers, one is named Lenard and the other Janier. Lenard is the oldest. He is 15 years old. He really likes playing soccer. I have always wanted to go see him play, but something always comes up that gets in the way. My brother Janier is the youngest. He is 7 years old. He's really fun, but when he gets around other people his behavior changes. He starts to jump up and down and run around so that they notice him. I love my family!
My name is Norlan Ariel Ramírez Videa and I'm 13 years old. I live with my family and several pets: a parakeet, a dog and a house. I enjoy running errands around town to help my family. In general I enjoy going to school and studying to keep improving in class, particularly in Math, English and Spanish. I also enjoy doing my homework because in that way I learn more. In the library I like reading about the human body and enjoying the many stories about Christmas and other holidays. On the weekends I like going to the river, but only when it's deep. One day I jumped into a really deep swimming hole and I almost drowned because the current was so strong that it dragged me to the bottom and I only just barely escaped!
My name is Belkis Carelia. I am 13 years old. I live with my family: my dad, my mom and my brothers and sisters. My favorite pets are: chickens, cows and rabbits. I help my mom a lot with the housechores. I enjoy washing more than any other chore I have to do. I really like coming to the library to read. Books that have to do with history are my favorite because they help me learn new things about what happened in the past. What books do you like and why? I like spending most of my free time at the library reading and then playing on the playground.

They are fun to be with. I like to tell jokes and to play soccer with my brothers. I also like to come to the library to read. My favorite book that I've read recently is Harry Potter because it was really fun. I like to study hard so that I can be someone in my future. I think that I would really like to be a doctor when I'm older. In my house we have a cat named Chimina who likes to play with us a lot. She's black and yellow and has a short tail.
My name is Lorena Haydée Merlo. I am 13 years old and will be going into the second year of high school (8 th grade) next year. I live with my family and we are very happy together. I like to help my family by doing different chores because it makes me happy when our house is clean and beautiful. I am fond of animales, my favorites being rabbits, parrots and seals. My favorite colores are salmon, purple and periwinkle. At school my favorite class is English. I would really like to be able to speak well in English someday. In my free time I like to come to the library to read. My favorite book is Little Red Riddinghood. I also like soccer and Nintendo. Roasted chicken is my favorite food, although nacatamales, a special tipical food of my country is also delicious.
