Youth Ages 14

My name is Tania Alvir. I'm 14 years old and will be going into the 3 rd year of high school (9 th grade) in February. I really love the art of painting and go to the art classes at library "Centro Amigos" every week. I love it because through drawing and painting I can find many ways to express how I feel and the things I care about. I like to work with tempura paint to create landscapes, animals and many other things. My favorite classes in school are Math, History and Science. I like having a few really good friends and I feel really happy when we do things together. I love sharing ideas with them and planning fun things to do together. I also like sports, although I hardly ever have the opportunity to play them. My favorite sport is soccer. I live with my mother and a little sister who I love to play with. Puppies are my favorite pet. I had a precious little puppy who was all black with white tips and very playful, but he died a while ago. I miss him a lot!

Hi! My name is Gema Martínez. I live in Nicaragua in the municipality of Pueblo Nuevo. I'm 14 years old. Next school year I'll be in the second year of high school (8 th grade). I like going to school. My favorite classes are Spanish and History. In my free time I like listening to music because it makes me happy and I often like what the songs say. Shakira is my favorite singing because I love her voice and they way that she dances. My favorite song of her's is "La Tortura." In my free time I also like to draw because it's a great way to enjoy myself and develop my imagination. I take drawing clases every week in the library. I also like going to the library to read fun stories. I am the kind of person that is almost always happy and fun to be around. I like having many good friends who help each other out a lot and like doing things together. I like talking with my cousin and best triends about life. I live with my mother and siblings.
My name is Ana Yansis. I am fun, out-going and friendly as well as studious and hard-working. I am 14 years old and next year, in 2006, I'm going to be in the second year of high school (8 th grade). I really love to read and I visit the library frequently. Our library is a community center where we youth have the opportunity to read, learn, have fun and make new friends. Thankfully, I am doing well in school. My grade percentage this year in school was 95%. I hope to be able to reach my goal for my future of being able to study in the university and work in a good profession that will help my country. I love listening to music and really enjoy signing Christian hymns. In my free time I enjoy painting, doing research in the library and studying. In our community we really appreciate all the effort Kristina has put into building our neigbhorhood library "Centro Amigos" and supporting the development of important programs there.
